Zappacosta's first major musical outing was the band "Surrender" that soon began to sell out to crowds across Canada with hits such as "Find Your Way" (released for the first time), "Turn Down The Mission" and "Buddy". The 8 track album Surrender was first released in 1979 and is an unusually beautiful album, set aside from the masses by catchy songs like "Some People" and the epic ballad "Nicole". It was three years later in 1982 when the four track EP "No Surrender" hit the streets. The songs on the EP were heaven for AOR and rock fans alike. Each one of the four tracks were absolutely brilliant, like the opener "All Been Done Before" which is a song about writing songs and has a crunching guitar hook and swirling synths. The early work with the band Surrender is a fine example of how it all began. The exciting part to fans is that there are some bonus tracks which have been forwarded by Alfie himself. These are indeed the icing on the cake of what is one of the finest Canadian bands that influenced this type of music in the late 70's / early 80's.
